Prescriptions, Referrals and Medical Certificates

It is Australian legislation that prescriptions or referrals are only given after a consultation by appointment. They are professional services and required appropriate consideration. A medical certificate of any kind is a legal document and reflects the professional opinion of the doctor. Our doctors issue Sickness and Work Cover certificates where required and these will generally require a consultation by appointment.



Phone Calls And Emails

If you contact our doctors via phone please be aware you may not receive a same day response. If the matter is urgent please ensure you call the practice and explain the situation to our Practice Nurse or Reception Team so that we can follow it up for you. 188 MEDICAL does not offer phone or email consultations.



Investigation Results

When you have investigations performed, such as blood tests, ultrasounds or x-rays, it is essential to arrange a follow up appointment to discuss the results.


Medical Files and Your Privacy

If you would like to access your medical file- to move to another doctor or for another reason, please phone Reception and ask for the required paperwork and we would be happy to help with your requests. Your medical record is a confidential document. It is the practice and policy of this Medical Centre to maintain complete security of your personal health information at all times, and to ensure that this information is only available to authorised staff members. We abide by the National Privacy Principles. You will find this located in our "forms" section.


Recalls and Reminders

Committed to preventative care, your doctor will seek your permission to be included on our reminder system. Routinely, we may issue you with a reminder notice offering you preventative health care services appropriate to your condition, e.g. diabetic register, pap screening, asthma register, and aged care assessment programmes. If you do not want to be part of this scheme, please let your doctor or reception know.
